Fine-powdered Activated Carbon KURARAY COAL™ PGW grade
Features
- This product features precisely controlled pore structure and advanced particle size management, tailored to the target substances for adsorption.
- Its sharp particle size distribution and minimal fine particles help optimize binder usage when producing activated carbon filters.
- With high product strength and low dust generation, it supports efficient and clean filter manufacturing.
(We also offer grades with reduced fine powder upon request.) - Some grades are certified by NSF and WQA.
Grade Lineup

Main Applications
- Removal of residual free chlorine and VOCs in tap water for home water filters, Catalyst
Residual Free Chlorine, Chloroform Removal Performance (PGW grade vs. Standard Activated Carbon)
- The PGW grade not only removes residual free chlorine but also effectively adsorbs chloroform, which is generally considered difficult to remove with general activated carbon.
*Test condition
160 rpm/min × 2 hr
Concentration: Free chlorine 100 mg/L, Chloroform 100 μg/L
Water temperature @ 25 degree C
Chloroform Removal Performance (PGW grade vs. PGWT grade)
- The PGWT grade features pore structure optimized for chloroform’s molecular size, delivering approximately 1.5 times higher chloroform removal performance compared to the PGW grade.
